Keeping your site alive
One of the toughest tasks when starting your site is keeping it alive during the beginning stages of it.
I have learned some useful tips, that will help you when trying to keep your own site alive.
- Try to always have some kind of activity on the site. Also, try to keep introducing new features to the user base. This usually gives the impression you are dedicated, and know where you want your web site to go.
- Send out a monthly, or weekly newsletter. Some members may forget about your site, or are not interested. When sending out the newsletter inform them of new features, the stats of your web site, and the latest contests. Most of the time this will get them interested, and they will visit your site to see the new features.
- Have Contests. If you market your contests right they will get your users to participate, get you more traffic, and more members.
- Try to constantly promote your site. When I say constantly, I mean everywhere you can place your link for free, PLACE IT. When promoting your site, you want to grab someone's attention, and get them to visit your site.
- Update your site daily. If you are running a forum, you should constantly post new topics. Try to get conversations started amongst your users. If you are running a blog, try to update it daily with unique content.
- Paid Advertising. If you have enough money you could use Google Adwords to advertise your web site. You could also advertise with your banner on an active web site.
Be consistent at those points, and you should be fine :). If you have any questions please ask them on the forums.
