Local Advertising
I will start off with local advertising. As I have said before, don't be shy, get the word out there! Tell your friends, your friends friends, so on and so forth... You could make cards with your logo on them, and go putting them in your school, and in other public places.
Forums, Social Networking, Affiliations
These are the big ones, where you should be getting most of your traffic from. On the forums you visit, add your link to your signature. If the forum has a "show off" section post your site there, who knows, you might get a member or two. On these forums, make friends with people interested in the same topic as your web site. Moving on to Social Networking. Sites like Digg can really help if you use them correctly, for example, if you get on the front page you will receive thousands of visits in a short time. Getting on the front page is hard though. A good way to get your articles Dugg is to add friends that are interested in the same topic as your web site, once they are "mutual friends", notify them of your new article or whatever you have submitted. Last, Affiliations, doing link exchanges could also help advertise your web site. Try finding sites that are active, and try asking them if they are interested in doing a link exchange.
